Company History

Founded in 1990, by Floyd G. Larson, a respected leader in biomaterials and implantable medical devices, PaxMed International was first known as Pacific Materials and Interfaces. The firm was originated to assist medical device companies with development and characterization of biomaterials used in implantable devices. It has grown steadily in expertise and staff, responding to client needs. In 1999 the name was changed to PaxMed International to better describe the breadth of staff and services. PaxMed International continues to provide expertise in biomaterials to support product development and regulatory approval. In addition, the quality systems and clinical trial management aspects of the business have grown and become an area of great value to clients. With its growth, PaxMed International remains focused exclusively on support for developers and manufacturers of medical devices.

Our name – PaxMed International – has a very clear meaning for us. “Pax” (Latin for “Peace”) reminds us of the fact that medical devices and biomaterials must work peaceable with the body, of “Pacific” from our former name, and of our prayers for peace among mankind. “Med” tells that our work supports the healing arts and sciences. “International” describes our worldwide client base, as well as our work in non-US regulatory submissions.
